Olly Murs gig cancelled after 20 minutes

Last night, Olly Murs, 41, was performing on his new tour, 15 Years of Hits, in Glasgow.

However, the star only managed to be on stage for 20 minutes before he abruptly stopped the show.

I can’t go on.

After performing just five or six songs, Olly was forced to inform the 14,000 strong crowd that his voice had failed him.

“This has never happened to me before but you can hear my voice is going,” he said.

“I want to give you the concert you deserve so I can’t go on. I’m going to come back, but I need to go now,” he then added.

“Sorry from the bottom of my heart. I don’t want to upset you guys. I’m so sorry. We’ll sort out refunds for anyone who’s unhappy. But Glasgow, I’ll be back to see you guys soon. I’m so sorry,” he then said.

“That’s the best I can do, so sorry,” he said as he walked off stage.

Fans were left baffled as the lights then came on and they were instructed to leave by staff.

Olly Murs issues statement after cancelled concert

Following his early exit from the show, Olly took to Instagram to once again apologise to his fans.

In a video for his 4.8 million followers, a visibly emotional Olly explained that in 15 years of show business, he’s never had to cut a show midway through.

“Glasgow I’m so sorry I had to walk off and cancel the show. I’ve never done this in 15 years,” he said.

“Most of the time as singers we can kind of get through it if our voice isn’t 100% and I walked out tonight thinking my voice is great. I felt a little bit rundown but I didn’t think I couldn’t do the show or I wouldn’t have come out,” he then continued.

‘I’ve never done this in 15 years’

The star then continued.

“As you can probably hear from my voice it just sounded rubbish and it is unfair for you guys who have spent all that money to come and see me, you deserve the best show and me at my best,” he then said.

“I’m so sorry from the bottom of my heart, hopefully I can recover from this,” he then added.

This isn’t the first time Olly has had to cancel a show due to health issues. Back in February, he was forced to cancel a gig in Dubai, just hours before he went on stage.

Health update from devastated star

This afternoon (May 23), Olly took to social media to reveal he’s been ordered to rest by his doctor.

Posting on Instagram, he said: “Never expected to be writing this today.

“To everyone in Glasgow last night, I want to start by saying sorry. What happened last night has never happened to me before and I’m truly gutted and upset about it. In 15 years I’ve never had to leave the stage after 30 minutes into a show, but my voice was failing me.

“I was panicking and worrying on what to do which gave me no choice but to address it. The thought of upsetting people and letting you the fans down has hit me hard today. Speaking in front of you last night and seeing people upset was hard to see. But from the bottom of my heart I’m sorry, but I had to put my health first.”

‘I’m hurting big time’

He then shared an update about this weekend’s shows. Olly said: “To everyone in Manchester and Birmingham, I’m deeply sorry but I am unfortunately going to have to cancel my shows there this weekend.”

He then revealed his diagnosis. “I have contracted a respiratory infection and have been instructed to go on a strict 48-hour voice rest by the doctor to ensure no further damage to my vocal chords.

“I’ve been having the best time on this tour and I’m so sorry to let my fans down, I’m hoping to be fighting fit in a few days to finish this amazing 15-year celebratory tour with a bang.”

He then shared: “All fans will be refunded directly from their point of purchase. This will happen automatically over the next week. Sorry again for this, I love you guys and I think anyone that knows me knows how much I love being on stage and performing. I’m hurting big time.”
