Kirstie Allsopp previously shared that her mother’s death led to her losing two stone.
The TV star, 53, has been a staple on screens for years alongside Phil Spencer, thanks to stints on shows such as Location, Location, Location and Love It or List It – which returns today (May 31).
However, in 2014, Kirstie was faced with heartbreak when her mum Lady Fiona Hindlip died from breast cancer.
And years later, she revealed that it was a fear of getting the disease herself that pushed her to try and slim down.

Kirstie Allsopp on how she lost two stone
In 2017, Kirstie – who is a mum to two boys – opened up about her two stone weight loss.
Chatting to MailOnline, she reflected on her late mother’s passing after her 26-year battle with cancer.
“Being overweight on your 50th birthday is the number one risk factor for breast cancer, which my mother got when she was 41; she died in 2014 when she was 66,” she said.
The TV star added: “I put on two stone between 40 and 44 and decided that I was being irresponsible as a parent and a partner and it had to go.”
Kirstie ended up seeing celebrity nutritionist Amelia Freer. Soon after, she cleaned up her diet and dropped down to a size 12.

Kirstie Allsopp’s mum’s death
Kirstie’s mum, Lady Fiona Hindlip, died in January 2014.
She was first diagnosed with cancer in 1987 and had a double mastectomy, as well as radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
Talking about her mum’s cancer battle, Kirstie told MailOnline in 2013: “Mum was always very discreet, stoic and amazingly brave. But we were aware of the impact it had on her. And it was hard for us to see her suffer.”
The property expert also revealed in January 2014 that her mum had been buried, at her own request, in a wicker coffin.
The TV star buried her mum next to the burial site of the family pony, Benji, in the garden of her Dorset home.
On the day of the funeral, Lady Hindlip’s burial plot became flooded with water after heavy rain. As a result, mourners were also forced to wear Wellington boots, despite a strict dress code being demanded.
The family then struggled to get her requested outfit on, so had to find an alternative. “I can describe it in a completely humorous way. It was just fantastically dark and British,” Kirstie told Radio Times in 2020.
She added: “I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. I think there’s a reason that we hand over the bodies of people we love to experts.”
Watch Kirstie on Love It or List It on Saturday (May 31) at 3:45pm on Channel 4.
