Earlier this week, an upset Samson discovered the truth about his mum’s death to cancer a decade ago.
In a whirl of emotions, he pushed Lydia down the stairs – leaving her battered, bruised and with an injured leg.
However, despite only suffering a strain, Lydia was rocked to the core when the examining doctor dropped the horrifying news that a mole on her leg could be cancerous.

Last night (Wednesday 1 August), viewers saw Lydia wrestle with her emotions, deciding to keep the shocking cancer scare to herself.
Painfully aware of the fact that Sam’s late wife died of the disease, she felt she couldn’t put him through it all again.
When the family visited Alice’s grave to show their respect, Lydia’s emotions came rushing to the fore – and Sam realised something was wrong.
Will she reveal her secret to her family?
Fans begged Lydia to tell Sam the truth, with one saying: “Sam would want to be there for you Lydia.”
Another said: “Awwwww I’m heartbroken for Lydia @karenblick you must tell your family, they can help you through it.”
A third commented on Samson’s actions, tweeting: “Samson may just have saved Lydia’s life, although he shouldn’t have pushed her downstairs!”

“I want Sam to finally be fully happy for the rest of his life with a good woman. Please let Lydia be okay,” said another.
Talking about her character’s situation, Karen Blick recently told Metro.co.uk: “When Lydia visits Alice’s grave with Sam and Samson, she sees the impact that Alice’s loss has had on both of them and what they’ve been through in the intervening years.
“She feels like she can’t put them both through that again.”
