Duke of Kent seen at concert in memory of his wife Duchess of Kent as fans send support

It marked one of his first outings since her death

Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent, attended a concert in memory of his late wife, Katharine, Duchess of Kent, following her death last month.

The Duchess of Kent passed away on September 4 at Kensington Palace. She was 92 years old.

The duke and duchess had been married for 64 years, tying the knot in 1961.

Duke of Kent attends concert in memory of late duchess

On Wednesday (October 15), the duke, 90, reportedly attended the concert at the Polish Heart Club in London.

A number of pictures of the duke alongside people who took part in the concert were posted on X and Instagram yesterday (Thursday, October 16). You can see them here.

“A fine concert to celebrate HRH The Duchess of Kent @ognisko_polskie – honoured to be invited to say a few words,” royal author Hugo Vickers wrote on Instagram, sharing a snap of the duke at the concert.

Some photographs of the duke at the concert alongside attendees were also uploaded to X.

Royal fans took to the replies to share their support for Prince Edward.

“Thanks to everyone who supports the Duke of Kent during this difficult period and honours the memory of his wife,” one royal fan tweeted.

“My heart goes out to his Royal Highness,” another wrote.

“God bless him,” a third said.

Some royal fans also commented on Vickers’ Instagram post.

“Amazing to remember our beloved Duchess of Kent, proud of our Duke of Kent, god bless the Kents and all royal family,” one wrote.

“A fitting tribute,” another said.

The concert comes just days after the duke celebrated his 90th birthday. He hit the milestone age last Thursday (October 9).

Duke of Kent’s first royal engagement since the death of his wife, Katharine

Last week saw the duke attend his first royal engagement since the death of his wife.

The royal attended a concert at Wigmore Hall in his role as a patron of the venue.

According to reports, prior to this engagement, the last time royal engagement the duke made was in August.

During the engagement, he presented the Duke of Kent medal to Mr James Malcolmson of The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards Regimental Association.

Duchess of Kent’s death and funeral

The duchess’ death was announced by Buckingham Palace at the start of last month.

“It is with deep sorrow that Buckingham Palace announces the death of Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Kent,” they said.

“Her Royal Highness passed away peacefully at Kensington Palace, surrounded by her family.

“The King and Queen and all Members of The Royal Family join The Duke of Kent, his children and grandchildren in mourning their loss and remembering fondly The Duchess’s life-long devotion to all the organisations with which she was associated, her passion for music and her empathy for young people.”

Her funeral took place on September 16.
