Singer Barry Manilow has been forced to cancel his upcoming shows this month after having surgery for his cancer.
Last month, the 82-year-old music icon announced he had been diagnosed with lung cancer, which he said had been “found early”.
As a result, he had surgery to “have the spot removed” over Christmas and had to put his concerts on hold. However, in a fresh new update, Barry has been left no choice but to postpone more of his shows.
Barry Manilow issues health update
In a new statement shared yesterday (February 4), Barry admitted he was feeling better.
“I want to share an update with you all. I’m doing great and recovering very well after my surgery. I’ve been getting exercise and spending some time in the studio, which has been fantastic,” he said.
That said, Barry has been guided not to hit the stage so soon after his surgery: “With my doctor’s guidance and recommendation, however, we have decided to postpone my residency dates at Westgate Las Vegas from 12-21 February so I can stay focused on healing and getting ready for the tour that’s kicking off at the end of February.”
He concluded: “Having a few extra weeks to rest and prepare is what the doctor ordered!”

‘Don’t do too much’
Following initial concerns from fans, more have expressed their worry over the Mandy hitmaker since the update.
“Love you Barry, but I question whether or not you should still be touring. I travelled across the pond in 2018 to see you at the O2 in London. Be well,” one user wrote.
“Take care, don’t do too much,” another person shared.
“Just be kind to yourself and give yourself time to fully recover. We’ll still be here in England waiting for you whenever you’re ready xxx,” a third remarked.
“Barry. Please take all the time in the world. If it takes longer than Feb, we will still be here right here waiting!! Just don’t rush back and get sick again,” a fourth said.
