The comedian lined up the story by holding up a photo to the audience. He said: “You sent us this photo and it’s the most insane thing I’ve ever seen.

“How did this happen?”

The photo shows a smiling Moore, with a gaping hole in the middle of her pearly whites.

The mom-of-three explained, saying: “I sheared off my front teeth.

“I’d love to say it was skateboarding or something really kind of cool, but I think it’s something that’s important to share because I think it’s literally, probably after heart disease, one of the biggest killers in in America, which is stress.”

Moore – who was married to Bruce Willis and then Ashton Kutcher – said: “Stress sheared off my front tooth.

“But, in an effort to get ready for you, I wanted to make sure my teeth were in.”

The husky voiced brunette said that her three daughters – Rumer, 28, Scout LaRue, 25, and Tallulah Belle, 23 – love seeing her without her false teeth in.

She told Fallon: “They love seeing me without my teeth because they think it makes me look more vulnerable and more human…”

She also joked about the missing teeth by saying: “I literally knocked it out. It’s almost like it fell out and my warranty was up.

“Thank God for modern dentistry.”
