An X Factor contestant has been left with just £1.25 in his account after being eliminated from the competition.

Singer Sam Black was voted off the ITV talent show last night but has been left with money worries after giving up his day job to compete on the show.

He told the Daily Star Sunday: “I’m not going to lie, I have £1.25 in my bank account.”

“I’m really broke as I haven’t been earning money while I’ve been on X Factor,” he added.

However, Sam admitted that he has suffered financially after spending years working seven days a week to provide for his family.

He said: “They do help out but I’m used to working seven days a week and only just getting by then, so it has been tough with no wage coming in.”

The singer also told The Sun Online that he missed his son Mason so much during the show that he considered going home.

“You have moments where you’re feeling really down and think ‘do you know what? I just want to go home,” he said to the publication.

However, the singer clarified that he would never have quit the show because it provided him with such an amazing opportunity.

He explained: “I never really thought about packing it in completely but there were days where I was really missing Mason and got really down, do you know what I mean? I’d never quit on anything.”
