This Morning presenter Paddy McGuinness has revealed he was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery.
Paddy revealed he suffered a medical emergency which resulted in him getting rushed to surgery. But initially, he wasn’t taken too seriously.
While on This Morning today (May 30), Paddy opened up about his experience, and confirmed it was a “hereditary” issue.

Paddy McGuinness reveals emergency surgery
While discussing today’s headlines with Rachel Johnson and Gyles Brandreth, the presenter opened up about how easy it is for some health issues to go under the radar.
The TV presenter admitted that he once experienced a medical emergency that was completely overlooked. However, it resulted in him getting rushed in for emergency surgery.
Paddy said on This Morning: “When I was about 17, I keeled over in agony. I didn’t know why. I had really bad stomach pains.
“The doctor came to our house and said: ‘Give him these tablets,’ and left.”
However, the tablets didn’t help. And very quickly Paddy’s dad realised that there was something more sinister going on that needed treated. And thankfully he noticed, because it wasn’t long before he was getting operated on.
He continued: “It was my dad who said: ‘No, this is something not right.’ He took me to hospital and within two hours I was being operated on. I had a burst ulcer.”
However, Rachel Johnson couldn’t hide her surprise at this, shocked that he had a burst ulcer at such a young age.
She double-checked: “An ulcer, at 17?”
But Paddy confirmed: “Yeah. Hereditary.”

Does Paddy have other health conditions?
While Paddy McGuinness talking about his ulcer on This Morning was the first time he revealed the news, he has previously spoken out about his arthritis diagnosis.
Back in 2018, he posted a picture on Instagram, announcing he was getting treatment.
The photo included a large plaster on his shoulder, while he rested at home. And he added the caption: “Morning! Nursing a poorly shoulder today. I had an ultrasound steroid injection in it yesterday. The reason? Arthritis. I’m only 44!”
However, over the years he hasn’t spoken much about his arthritis journey, and not much is known about how his journey is going.
