Giovanni Pernice issues statement following Strictly exit as he shares more sad news with fans

Amanda and Giovanni have danced their last dance…

Giovanni Pernice has broken his silence following the news that his Strictly partner, Amanda Abbington, has withdrawn from the competition.

After missing out on last Saturday’s (October 21) show for “medical reasons”, Amanda confirmed yesterday (October 23) that she will not be returning to the dancefloor.

It Takes Two presenter Fleur East broke the news last night in a statement which read: “Amanda Abbington is unable to continue in Strictly Come Dancing and has decided to withdraw from the competition. The show wishes her all the best for the future.”

Now Amanda’s professional partner, Giovanni Pernice, has issued his own statement in response to her sad departure.

Posting a cute snap of the pair of them over on his Instagram, the Strictly favourite said: “Amanda ..
I am so sad we can’t continue but I am proud of what we achieved and I am sending you so much love.”

He followed the heartfelt caption with a black love heart, before tagging @amanda_abbington74 and @bbcstrictly.

Giovanni shares more sad news

This was not the only blow for Gio’s loyal fans, who were also dealt some further sad news last night.

In a further post on his business Instagram account, the Italian dancer announced: “Just an update that we are postponing the launch at gpvita.com. Check back soon for more news.”

Giovanni launched the account last week, teasing a “dream project” on the way. The pro dancer said all would be revealed today (October 24). However, following his Strictly exit, the launch has been pushed back.

Fans were quick to rally round, with one posting: “Sending love Giovanni. We’ll be here when you are ready.”

The newly created Instagram account for the business reads: “Giovanni Pernice Vita (GP Vita) aims to create products to inspire and bring joy to life.”
