Strictly Come Dancing 2025: Who is George Clarke?

YouTuber George Clarke was announced on Radio One on Tuesday (August 12).

He’s a British TikTok and YouTube star with a fan base of more than 12 million followers across multiple platforms. Known for his comedic and relatable content, George has captivated audiences with his unique style, engaging vlogs and collaborations.

“Never thought I’d say this… but I’m doing Strictly! Honestly, I’ve got no idea what I’m doing but I’m excited to get stuck in … and potentially fall over a fair bit,” said George.

However, fans are now realising who his well-known dad is. And, if you think it’s the architect also called George Clarke, then we’re sorry to tell you that you’re wrong…

Meet George Clarke’s dad – Sean Clarke!

While his name may not ring a bell, his his work certainly will. Sean is the MD of Aardman Animations – the studio behind British institution Wallace And Gromit.

Starting out at the company in 1998, Sean worked his way up, co-producing Early Man and the two Shaun The Sheep movies. In 2019, was announced as the new boss of the whole company.

Earlier this summer, Sean paid tribute to his talented son, and said he’s helping to shape the future of the animation company.

He told The Times: “Over the last three years I’ve seen George’s success as a YouTuber and it’s been interesting to see the power of nurturing your community and understanding your brand. In the future we launch characters on TikTok and we don’t have to overthink the backstory.

“They’re just funny characters that people want to share organically and then once I can go to the market and say: ’20 million people love these characters, now we want to tell some stories.’ It turns this thing on its head.”

Strictly fans react

“HE’S A NEPO BABY!?” one Strictly fan posted. “George’s dad owns the company that made Wallace and Gromit? Is this all well-known?! I had zero idea!” said a second.

“Not his dad being in charge of Wallace and Gromit,” said a third. “This is blowing my mind,” another said.

You can see if George takes to the dance floor with a Wallace and Gromit-inspired routine next month, when Strictly starts on BBC One.
