Casualty star Amanda Mealing has admitted that filming Connie Beauchamp’s harrowing storyline has brought back painful memories for her.
Connie has recently been diagnosed with a cardiac tumour on-screen and has been receiving chemotherapy treatment.
But Amanda has found filming the storyline really hard because she herself suffered from breast cancer back in 2002, shortly after the birth of her son.

“It’s been a challenge, more than I thought it would be,” Amanda told TV Times.

“It invited back old anxieties and my post-traumatic stress disorder reared its head again.
“I’m happy to say I sought help at the time my PTSD was most debilitating, and was able to do so again this time.
She added that anyone fighting cancer or who has survived it would have reacted in the same way.

And Amanda said that despite finding filming the story so difficult, she is glad Casualty has taken on the plot.
“It’s very close to my heart,” she said.
“Because Casualty is a primetime drama, it is our duty to highlight issues that may, and do, affect the whole nation.”]
Viewers were fearful that Connie was set to die after she at first received treatment.
She even attempted to deal with the tumour herself at one point.
But thankfully, it looks like she’s getting the treatment she needs now.
