Neighbours star Ryan Maloney on joining Coronation Street

Toadally good idea, right?

Neighbours star Ryan Maloney has revealed he’d like to swap soaps – and hemispheres!

The actor, who has played Toadie Rebecchi in the Aussie drama for 23 years, has admitted he’d love to arrive in Weatherfield.

Even more shocking, the usually nice guy would like to become the next Pat Phelan!

We don’t think he could handle another serial killer just yet, though!

Speaking to The Sun Online’s Soap Bubble, Ryan said: “I’d love to do a UK soap, it’d be brilliant. I’d love to have a crack at that.”

Speaking about what his potential role could be, he said: “I want to come in on Christmas Day and just be the killer for one episode.”

Neighbours fans can rest easy, however, as Toadie – previously known as Toadfish – isn’t leaving anytime soon.

When asked if he’ll be sticking around on Ramsey Street for another 23 years, he said: “Jesus no, that means I’ll be like 78.

“I don’t think I want to be here for that long, though having said that, who knows? I’m always very grateful for the work.”

Ryan took part in the UK version of Celebrity Big Brother in 2013.

After leaving the show, he admitted that he felt like he couldn’t be himself in the show because he had to protect the Neighbours brand.

However that didn’t stop him coming third, behind Heidi and Spencer Pratt and eventual winner Rylan Clark.
