Comic Jason Manford, 44, has shared an update from his hospital bed – and, happily, it looks as though he’s on the mend.
Earlier this week, the popular comic revealed he had “collapsed” and was rushed to hospital during a “scary” health ordeal.
He told fans on social media he’d endured an “extremely painful” 24 hours leading up to unplanned surgery to remove his appendix.
However, after the Waterloo Road actor was flooded with best wishes for his recovery, he has now shared a new update.

What happened to Jason Manford?
Statements uploaded to Jason’s social media had confirmed dates in St Albans, Oxford, Lincoln and Skegness had been “unexpectedly cancelled” due to illness. However, audience members were reassured that the tour shows would be rescheduled to later this year and early in 2026.
“Thank you for your understanding and we apologise for any inconvenience caused,” the messages added.
Then on Thursday (July 31) evening, Jason popped up on social media himself to give more details about his health. Posting a pic showing him in a hospital bed and holding a clear plastic cup with a purple liquid inside, Jason confirmed he’d undergone an op.

‘Now in recovery’
Jason captioned his post: “Appendix surgery all went well, now in recovery with my Vimto, they serve it in all Manchester hospitals.”
He went on: “Bit of a scary and extremely painful 24 hours but thankful to our NHS and my incredible nurse mum who’s a godsend in a health crisis! My advice would be to not get appendicitis whilst driving at 70mph on the motorway!”

Jason continued by expressing his regret at missing the shows originally scheduled for the upcoming days.
“Seriously though, I’m gutted that I’ve had to move the dates this weekend. And I’m sorry for the late notice to so many people in St Albans, Oxford, Lincoln, Skegness and at Kendal Calling,” he said.
He added that he thought he could ‘gut it out’ – but was informed to consider not doing so.
“I thought I could get by on antibiotics and surgery at a later date so I could still do the shows. But was advised not to,” Jason wrote.
He continued: “Also means I can’t fly out to Portugal on Monday to join my family on holiday! Ah well, such is life. Thanks for all the ‘Get Well Soon’ messages.”
And in a reply to one commenter on Instagram, Jason revealed how rapidly he became unwell.
“I was literally filming stuff until 2pm yesterday and 3pm it hit me. By 5 I had collapsed on the hospital waiting room floor! Madness,” he explained.

Health update – and a cheeky Domino’s
Overnight, Jason appeared to be on the mend, and in the nurses’ good books.
He ordered a huge pizza delivery from his hospital bed – and confirmed that he was happy to share. Although his controversial topping meant there may have been a few slices left in the box…
Jason shared a trio of pictures to social media – one showing him looking weary but smiling in front of a half-eaten pizza; one of the pepperoni and pineapple pizza; and one of the boxes stacked up at the nurses’ station.

He captioned it: “Cheeky midnight snack! Ordered some @dominos_uk & found a fellow fan of pepperoni & pineapple pizza! Who’s with me?” His Waterloo Road co-star Kym Marsh replied: “Me!”
One follower asked if he’d shared with the staff at the hospital. “Course,” he replied. “Mum’s a nurse. I know how to get a hot cup of tea in the morning!”
