Janet Street Porter has shared a health update following her recent knee operation.

The Loose Women icon joked about becoming a bionic woman as she underwent a second knee replacement, following a hip replacement just last year.

However, it appears the outspoken star isn’t recovering as well as she’d like…

Janet Street Porter health update

Last month, Janet discussed her upcoming surgery on Loose Women, opening up about the extreme health anxiety she was suffering in anticipation.

“I have got bad arthritis. And I have another knee replacement coming up at the end of this month. Not many days to go now. But if anything goes wrong with my body, I absolutely catastrophise,” she told her fellow panellists.

Thankfully, everything seemed to go according to plan. Appearing on the ITV show via video, she proudly showed her colleagues how she was already back on her feet just hours after the operation.

But, in a recent interview with OK! Magazine, she explained that it’s not all been smooth sailing.

‘The pain is shocking’

Despite “walking to the loo without a stick, waving my arms around and showing off” just two hours after surgery, it seems the pain eventually caught up with Janet.

“I’m walking around fine but at night the nerve pain is shocking. Really bad,” she revealed. “I’m putting loads of ice on it but… you’ve just got to tough these things out.”

The star, who will celebrate her 80th birthday next year, added thoughtfully: “You can either turn into someone who sits there and looks backwards, or embrace getting older, talk about the downsides but celebrate the upsides.”

Janet made her much-anticipated return to Loose Women this week, following a three-week hiatus. However, the star shared another scary “setback” she’d had in her recovery, suffering a fall on her way back from the hairdressers.

Wishing you all the best for your recovery, Janet!
