Ex-Emmerdale star Gemma Oaten’s Holby City debut is a hit with fans

Holby City fans have asked for former Emmerdale actress Gemma Oaten to be made a series regular after her character Sydney Somers made her debut last night (Tuesday 12 April.)

Gemma, who is mostly known for her role as Rachel Breckle in the ITV soap, arrived in Holby last night and was determined to get a patient a bed.

She also came to blows with Fletch, before finally making amends. Which sounds like there could be a bit of a romance on the cards…

Gemma has confirmed to fans that she’ll be appearing in next week’s episode, but it seems that’s not enough for the Holby Massive.

She took to Twitter after the show to say how much she enjoyed the experience and asked fans if they’d like to see her as a regular.

Gemma tweeted: “Thank you. Loved it! Back next week…but after that who knows?! Do you want her as a regular?”

Gemma’s followers were unanimous in wanting to see Nurse Sydney as regular on the wards.

One tweeted: “You’re amazing, it’s a huge change from Emmerdale. I would love to see you as a regular.”

Gemma played Rachel in Emmerdale from 2011 to 2015 and is best known for her relationship with Sam Dingle. She also gave birth to a baby which was fathered by Jai Sharma.
