Emma Willis admits she was starstruck by “legend” Phillip Schofield

Even famous people get a bit starstruck at times!

Emma Willis has confessed she gets a bit starstruck around This Morning host Phillip Schofield.

The Big Brother presenter previously worked alongside Phil on the ITV daytime programme – and has said it was a bit daunting given she grew up watching him on TV.

She said: “Presenting with Phillip is lovely but if I’m honest I get a little bit starstruck! I’ve hosted [This Morning] with him before, and I was a bit like, ‘I’ve grown up watching him on telly’.

“He’s been in my life for a long time and then all of a sudden someone asks if you want to host a show with him and in my head I’m just thinking, ‘Are you kidding, that’s Phillip Schofield, I can’t do that!’ He’s a legend.

“So it’s a bit scary but he is so supportive, he really goes out of his way to help you along and hold your hand through the whole thing, so it’s always great working with him because you learn a lot from him every time.”

Emma is back on This Morning this week, hosting alongside Rylan Clark-Neal while Phillip and Holly Willoughby enjoy an Easter break.

She’s used to working with Rylan on Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother.

“With Rylan, it’s always lovely for me because I know him so well and we’ve worked together so much that it’s very normal for me to be standing by his side on telly,” she said.

“The best thing about working with Rylan is that you never know what he is going to say or do, and the worst thing about working with Rylan is that you never know what he is going to say or do!

“And even though they are the same thing, the best thing about that far outweighs the worst thing because I love spontaneity and he is very spontaneous.”

“It is very exciting,” added Emma, “because I’ve watched it ever since I can remember, but at the same time it’s very nerve-wracking – because it’s done so brilliantly day in day out by Holly and Phil, you just don’t want to go in there and let the team down in any way.”

Emma and Rylan hosted their first show together on Tuesday and it was an overwhelming success!

Viewers praised the pair’s natural chemistry and hosting skills, with one tweeting: “It’s like friends getting together for happy hour and gossip!”
