Dolly Parton has landed a very surprising new job in the UK

She'll not be working 9 till 5, though...

Let’s face it, Tom Hardy was always going to be a tough act to follow on CBeebies’ Bedtime Stories.

After all, it’s not every day you have a very handsome A-list superstar with soothing tones on hand to lull your children to sleep while simultaneously keeping their parents (and, er, those of us who aren’t parents but still tuned in…) enthralled.

Which is why fans of CBeebies were left stunned after the channel outdid itself yet again with ANOTHER big name guest for the popular end of day slot.

Are you ready for this?

The next narrator for Bedtime Stories will be none other than Dolly Parton! Yes, DOLLY PARTON! The Queen of Country herself!

The legendary Dolly has been booked to read Louise Yates’ Dog Loves Books on October 25, and has also recorded a second story which will be aired at a later date.

And, sorry Tom, but some fans have branded this the best Bedtime Stories star yet!

One fan said: “This just became the most important date in my calendar.”

Another added: “And there I was thinking Tom Hardy couldn’t be bettered… Can. Not. Wait.”

And, of course, there were a string of tweets joking Dolly’s reading needed to take place between nine and five, only appealing to those between nine and five…

Well, you get the gist!

Another fan simply said: “This will be legendary!”

The story Dolly will read is about a clever dog who runs a bookshop. He doesn’t have very many customers but that’s okay because he’s happy just being surrounded by books all day long.

Dolly said: “Encouraging children to develop a love of books from an early age is very important to me.

“I hope my songs and stories inspire the CBeebies audience. Thank you for having me!”

Thanks for doing it, Dolly!
