Danniella Westbrook issues ‘painful’ health update as she shares first photo following facial reconstruction surgery

Danniella is taking things 'one step' at a time with her recovery

| Updated:

Former EastEnders star Danniella Westbrook has issued a health update soon following surgery to reconstruct her face.

Over the years, the 51-year-old actress has been open about her numerous procedures to try and fix her face. Her nose initially collapsed due to her cocaine addiction.

Last month, Danniella documented that she had gone under the knife once again, and had been supported by her partner, bare-knuckle fighter Charlie Symonds.

In a worrying update days later, Danniella shared a video of herself where she appeared incredibly emotional. In the clip, she admitted to ‘hating herself’ and said she didn’t have ‘any more battles left in her’.

Danniella also expressed that she was fearful of getting an infection following her latest operation.

However, in a more positive update shared yesterday (June 30), Danniella seemed to be in a much better place.

The former Celebrity Big Brother contestant shared a selfie of her face without her bandage and appeared to be recovering really well. To accompany the pic, she revealed her mental health has also improved.

“Big update from today’s hospital check-up – and it’s one filled with gratitude and hope,” she wrote.

‘It’s no secret that I’ve struggled with mental health’

Danniella continued: “It’s no secret that I’ve struggled with mental health and self-image over the years. This journey hasn’t been just been about physical healing, but emotional rebuilding too.

“Today, I got the amazing news that I’m officially clear to move on to stage 2 of my recovery. Despite a rough patch with an infection (which was a known risk), my doctors are happy with how everything’s going – and that means everything to me.”

Danniella insisted this is a “reminder that healing isn’t linear”, but instead “messy”, “painful” and “sometimes uncertain”. She added: “But it’s also full of strength [and] growth. And moments like this that remind me why I keep going.”

Danniella concluded: “To anyone else struggling: You are not alone, and better days are ahead. One step, one stage at a time.”
