BBC Breakfast viewers have predicted there might be a ‘secret feud’ between host Naga Munchetty and weather presenter Carol Kirkwood.
Today (April 1) marked Carol’s very last day before retirement. After being a prominent weather forecaster for 28 years, BBC Breakfast paid tribute to the star after staff and viewers at home adored her.
The tribute featured many heartfelt messages from many presenters on the show, including Susanna Reid and Louise Minchin.

BBC Breakfast viewers call out ‘secret feud’ between Naga Munchetty and Carol Kirkwood
“Maybe Naga and Carol really didn’t get on,” one user assumed on X, formerly Twitter.
“Carol saying goodbye to Naga,” another wrote, attaching a GIF of a blonde woman throwing her middle finger up.
“No Naga,” a third remarked with several shocked face emoji.
“Amazed she wasn’t on the tribute,” a fourth said.
“Given how often Naga is on…and she didn’t feature at all,” a fifth added.
“Is that why she’s leaving today instead of tomorrow or Friday?” another joked.
‘It’s a rare glimpse into me being lovely to you’
Later in the show, Naga, however, did appear in the studio with other colleagues from BBC Breakfast alongside hosts Sally Nugent and Jon Kay.
Carol thanked them for showing up for her and slyly remarked: “And even you, Nags!”
In response, Naga jokingly said: “I’m just waiting for the countdown for you go!” while pretending to look at a watch on her wrist before everyone burst into laughter.
Presenting her a gift on behalf of everyone, Naga insisted it was a “rare glimpse into me being lovely to you”.
Carol insisted she might need “smelling salts”, to which Naga responded: “You will do!”
After many began referring to Carol as “Little Miss Sunshine,” the team gifted her a piece of artwork depicting her as the Mr. Men character Little Miss Sunshine, designed by illustrator and author Roger Hargreaves.
Viewers continued to react to Naga’s behaviour, with one user writing: “Naga’s arm looks like it’s been a bit twisted.”
Carol’s surprise visit from her husband
At the end of the episode, Carol, 63, was surprised by an appearance from her husband, Steve Randall, 49, whom she married in 2023.
Arriving in the studio with a bouquet of flowers, Carol remarked: “You told me you weren’t coming in!
Sally insisted that they urged him to keep it a secret, where Carol responded: “Steve, you’re in trouble,” adding: “No change there!”
During her retirement, the pair explained they are looking forward to their holidays and Carol not having to wake up early every morning.
“The first thing to go is the alarm clock,” Steve said.
Viewers were quick to react following the wholesome segment.
“Feel like I’m intruding on Carol’s leaving do,” one user joked.
“Wishing Carol Kirkwood the best for the future. Enjoying the life,” another shared.
“What an amazing woman and weather presenter – good luck @carolkirkwood – may the sun shine on you and your husband,” a third said.
