Bake Off star Prue Leith admits ‘this is nearly the end’

Earlier this year, Bake Off star Prue made an appearance on Loose Women, where she addressed the sad reality of growing older.

The TV chef explained how getting older has forced her to slow down in her professional and personal life.

“Age stinks, come on, it takes me 10 minutes to get myself out of bed in the morning. If I don’t do my exercises, I can’t move,” Prue said.

“There are all sorts of things that are wrong with old age; you’re very conscious that this is nearly the end. You then decide that you’re going to make the most of it and have fun,” she then added.

‘I can’t do certain things any longer’

In another interview, this time with The Telegraph, Prue opened up about how her age is stopping her from doing some of the things she enjoys, such as gardening.

“We’ve got a new potting shed and greenhouse and I’m thrilled. It’s full of plants I had in childhood in South Africa, like bright bougainvillaea,” she said.

“I like propagating because my back hurts and I can do it on a high stool. I’m not as hands-on as I’d like because I’m no longer able to be. I find it vaguely surprising I can’t do certain things any longer,” she then went on to say.

Prue on plans for her death

In a conversation with The i newspaper earlier this year, Prue spoke about her plan for dying if she is ever faced with insufferable declining health.

“I hope the assisted dying bill goes through. I’ve been campaigning for it for 12 years, ever since my elder brother died such a horrible death,” she said.

“If the law is passed, and I get to the stage when I know that I’m about to have a really horrible time, I will top myself. If the law isn’t passed, I’ll probably do it anyway, because I’ll be dead. They can hardly prosecute me,” she then added.
