I’m A Celebrity fans tease campmates for acting like Richard has died

Richard left the show after a medical emergency earlier this week

Fans of I’m A Celebrity have been left baffled by the campmates after their reaction to Richard Madeley’s exit from the show.

The mood in camp was genuinely sad as Richard’s fellow contestants found out he was leaving.

What did Richard say to his fellow campmates on I’m A Celebrity?

In the recorded message, Richard told everyone he was fine and it was only because of COVID he couldn’t come back to join them.

He wished them luck and told them he loved them before promising to watch them every night.

Frankie Bridge broke down in tears after the message saying: “Of course he did the perfect video”

Arlene told the cameras: “He was a huge spirit and central core, the core of the apple that the apple is built around.”

What did Richard say about his exit?

Sitting down with Ant and Dec for his post-show interview, Richard told the hosts he was “as fit as a fiddle”.

He went on to explain exactly what had happened: “I had just a funny little turn.”

“ITV are so good with duty of care. They were adamant. They said ‘No, we have to make sure that you’re OK.’ I said, ‘But I am OK.’ They said, ‘We have to make sure.’

“So I went to the local hospital – I was only in there for about an hour and a half – I was given really thorough checks and I was given a completely clean bill of health, I’m absolutely fine. No matter what you might have read, I’m absolutely fine.”

He went on to explain he had done the show to understand the “psychology” behind it and how the “psychological pressures” would affect him.

He said the hardest bit was “night time, sleeping, because we had very thin mattresses, much thinner than in the top camp and not very warm sleeping bags. Really cheap, frankly, sleeping bags.

“It was freezing in there. We were always cold.”

Richard said he would miss all his fellow campmates too and thanked the show for the opportunity.

“Thanks for the opportunity. Thanks for asking me, I enjoyed it,” he said.
