Debbie McGee reveals fears ahead of tonight’s Strictly performance

The star reveals the tricky routine's left her worried

She has been flying high on the show since the start, but Strictly Come Dancing contestant Debbie McGee has admitted she’s concerned about her routine for tonight’s performance.

Debbie and dance partner Giovanni Pernice have been smashing their dance routines every week, with the power couple impressing the judges and making themselves an early favourite to win amongst viewers.

After topping the leaderboard last week, Debbie was left defending herself against some viewers who claimed the star was at an unfair advantage due to her previous dance training.

However Debbie, who practised ballet decades ago, and her dance partner admitted on Strictly’s It Takes Two show that she hasn’t quite got the hang of this week’s routine.

Giovanni said: “I don’t know what’s wrong this week. Sometimes Debbie forgets the steps.”

Debbie also expressed concern, saying: “I think the challenge is the foot count. It’s so fast and then you have to change direction and my poor little brain is quite jumbled.”

“We both feel under pressure I think,” she continued.

The theme of this week’s show is ‘Movie Week’ which sees Debbie and Giovanni performing the tricky Quickstep to Let’s Call The Whole Thing Off from the film, Shall We Dance?

Despite the pressure of tonight’s demanding routine, Debbie admitted that the twosome are still pulling together and enjoying the experience.

“We’re still giggling and laughing, but we’re really having to knuckle down” she said.

Tonight’s show will also see Mollie King and AJ Pritchard dancing the American Smooth to Climb Every Mountain from The Sound of Music and Gemma Atkinson and Aljaž Škorjanec doing the Charleston to The Bare Necessities from The Jungle Book.

We’re excited to see how Debbie and Giovanni perform on tonight’s show and wish the pair the best of luck!
