Celebrity Big Brother’s Ann Widdecombe annoys viewers with bedtime demand

She likes a good night's sleep!

Ann Widdecombe has ruffled feathers after requesting Celebrity Big Brother housemate Ashley James come to bed at the same time as her.

The 70-year-old was seen tucked up on Wednesday night’s episode, but as Big Brother won’t turn the bedroom lights off until all housemates are asleep, she got up and went to find Ashley.

Going into the garden after midnight, Ann asked the boys where Ashley was, to which they said the former Made In Chelsea star was in the diary room.

Ann replied: “When she comes down from the diary room, can you tell her they’ll never switch the lights out until she comes in?”

The boys agreed.

They passed on the message to Ashley when she came out of the diary room, and Ashley quickly skipped off to bed.

Andrew Brady said that proved his point that the girls are “intimidated” by Ann and bend to her will.

He told the guys: “Ann is intimidating. You can’t talk to her about anything as you will not win. Ann intimidates people.

“She intimidates the girls in that room, therefore the girls aren’t willing to stay up all night because it’s a case of, ‘Ann’s gone to bed at half nine, I’ll go to bed’.”

Shane Janek replied: “I think if Ann wasn’t here we would have a very different house dynamic.”

Some CBB viewers felt Ann’s desire for all the girls to go to bed at the same time wasn’t fair.

Others wanted to know why Ann didn’t wear an eye mask.

Others, however, felt Ann was justified in wanting to sleep after midnight, and thought it was unfair of Big Brother to keep the bedroom lights on just because not everyone was in bed yet.

Some viewers thought Ann was justified in going to bed whenever she wanted, particularly if the former MP wanted to avoid “rowdy” nighttime behaviour.

An exclusive clip aired on Big Brother’s Bit On The Side last night showed the aftermath of Ann asking Ashley to come to bed.

Ann was seen making the beds with Rachel Johnson and Amanda Barrie.

She said: “I went outside to ask Ashley to come down as they would never turn the lights off while there was one person out.

“And she did. It was very kind of her.”

Rachel then suggested Ashley was hoping for a “sloshing session” with Ginuwine, to which Amanda said: “Well, that’s what they want for the programme.”

“Of course they do,” agreed Ann. “Those two will be in the final.”

Amanda joked: “They don’t want us asleep, do they? It’s not great television, really. ‘We are now cutting to Amanda who can’t sleep and Ann who is sleeping!'”

But, hey, don’t knock it, Amanda!

Some viewers have said they’d be perfectly happy watching Amanda and Ann sleep over watching some of the other action in the house!

Future spinoff show idea?!
