Linda Nolan admits worry that ‘the next scan won’t bring good news’ amid cancer

Addresses her fears for the future

Linda Nolan, who is battling cancer, has opened up about her worries that ‘her next scan won’t bring good news’.

Linda was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005. Then, in 2017, she suffered incurable secondary breast cancer in her hip.

Cancer then spread to her liver in 2020 before two tumours, surrounded by smaller ones, were subsequently discovered in her brain in early 2023.

TV fave Linda has previously reflected on how emotional her regular CT and MRI scans can be. But in a recent column for a tabloid website, the 65-year-old addressed her fears for the future.

Late last year, Linda revealed how the results from a scan left her feeling almost jubilant.

Appearing on GMB, Linda she said at the time: “I knew straight away it was good news by the look on my consultant’s face. He said the scans were good – MRI and CT scans. And that there’s shrinkage, with the tumour so… I wanted to put my arms around him and kiss him but I thought they might throw me out!”

However, writing for the Mirror this week, Linda detailed how she has struggled to remember the word for peas as she was eating as she considered the role of medication in her treatment.

I worry the next scan won’t bring such good news.

Linda said: “Of course, part of me thinks this is the beginning of the end, as I always do when my memory seems to worsen. I worry the next scan won’t bring such good news. But in this case I actually think I might be experiencing cold turkey (with or without peas).”

Linda also admitted how the constant rounds of medication can be wearying in itself.

She continued: “I can’t remember a time I wasn’t popping pills. The irony is I never ‘did’ drugs in any kind of remotely rock ’n’ roll way – it just wasn’t me. I’m now tempted! But seriously, and I know I’m not alone here, when you take pills day after day, (including pills to treat the side effects caused by other pills), you sometimes feel like saying: ‘No, not today.’ I’m sick of it.”
