Amy Dowden losing her eyelashes in ‘frustrating’ cancer treatment side effect as she returns to hospital for tests

Amy has recently shared she has 'no evidence of disease' in her body

Professional dancer Amy Dowden has candidly opened up on the lingering side effects of cancer treatment as she returns to hospital.

The 33-year-old star has bravely shared her journey with stage three breast cancer with fans since being diagnosed in May 2023.

Strictly Come Dancing star Amy recently announced there was “no evidence of disease” in her body.

But she has now shared a video to her Instagram Story of herself waiting to have blood tests at the hospital.

She cheerily started her message: “Good morning everybody, it’s been ages since I’ve come on and spoken to you all.”

She then shared: “I’ve lost my eyelashes again, only a few of them, they are growing back again. But I did read when I was having treatment, quite a few posts from ladies, that said they had lost them again after the 12 week cycle, they lost them once more I think.

“Let me know if this has happened to you, it’s a little bit frustrating but not the end of the world,” she continued.

Amy also showed off her blonde pixie cut hairstyle in the candid video, explaining how her hair was growing curly.

She recently opened up on how losing her hair was the “hardest part” of her cancer battle.

Speaking on The One Show earlier this month, she said: “Taking the decision to shave my hair off was definitely the hardest step to take throughout my whole cancer journey but I wanted to be in control.”

Strictly star sends love to Kate Middleton

Amy has also admitted the news of Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis “hit me hard”.

She wrote on Instagram at the time of the Princess of Wales’ announcement: “The news has personally hit me hard, thinking so much about our Princess! Cancer doesn’t discriminate.

“There’s no textbook, right or wrong way to deal with a diagnosis and treatment. It’s personal and I really hope all can #bekind and support our Princess.”

She continued: “I was lucky enough to meet The Princess of Wales during my treatment who was so kind, supportive and generous of time.

“Sending all my well wishes with treatment ahead and as always to all those affected by cancer.”
