Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton has reportedly been granted supervised visitation with his three children.
It comes after Celebrity Big Brother star Perez was hospitalised following a self-harm livestream at his home in Florida on August 4.
Three days after the incident, Perez’s mother, Teresita Lavandeira, filed for temporary custody of his three children. At the time, a lawyer for the family told PEOPLE that its concern and aim was to “protect the children and make sure they are safe”.
Now documents obtained by TMZ reportedly state that Teresita currently has temporary custody of the children and Perez will be able to see them under supervision.
The reported visitation arrangement deals with contact rather than custody. According to the outlet, there are two conditions that Perez must meet.
The first is that the visitation must be supervised by either a family member agreed upon by both sides or a therapist. The second is that Perez must first obtain psychiatric clearance.
Temporary custody ‘remains with his mum Teresita Lavandeira’
The documents reportedly leave the temporary custody arrangement unchanged. Teresita remains responsible for the children while Perez’s visits take place under the stated supervision conditions.
The family situation follows an incident earlier this month in which Perez livestreamed an apparent act of self-harm. The reported visitation development comes as the family continues to deal with the consequences of that distressing event.
Perez Hilton’s family statement
Perez’s family said he was receiving inpatient medical and mental health care. Their statement focused on his care while relatives supported his three children during the difficult period.
In a message posted on Perez’s website on August 17, his family thanked those who had contacted them and kept him in their thoughts.
