Strictly stars reportedly furious after finding out contestant’s secret connection to show

It's all heating up backstage at Strictly!

| Updated:

The Strictly Come Dancing contestants may change every year, but one thing stays the same: all the backstage drama!

And the latest star to be targeted by the Strictly rumour mill is none other than Brian Conley, who is said to be harbouring a secret connection to the show.

According to The Sun, fellow Strictly contestants have been left a tad miffed after discovering Brian’s brother, Alan, is the show’s long-running floor manager.

A show source snitched: “There is fury among a group who think Brian is getting special treatment.
“Staying in Strictly and doing well is in no small part down to how your clips are edited and the airtime each celebrity gets, so having a family member on staff is bound to help.”

Well, it wouldn’t be a series of Strictly without rumours of “fury” among contestants, right?

So far Brian hasn’t commented on the claims, but it must be pointed out that having Alan as a brother didn’t help him avoid the dance-off last week, did it?

The entertainer’s family connection didn’t save him from last weekend’s dance-off, which he managed to survive after fellow contestant Chizzy Akudolu was sent home instead.

And Brian has been quite open about his brother working on the show, so it’s not exactly a secret.

In a recent chat with The Mirror, he was actually asked if having Alan as his brother would boost his chances of succeeding on the dance floor.

Brian’s answer? Er, no….

He joked: “I said, ‘Al, you know how this could affect me? When I’m doing pantomime, I might be stealing the show’. And he said, ‘Bri, with the greatest respect, you ain’t going to win’, which I thought was a wonderful note of confidence.”

You can always count on family to tell it to you straight!
