On Coronation Street, things haven’t been easy for Carla Connor and Lisa Swain in recent months — and that’s putting it lightly.
After the ‘kidney-gate’ drama earlier this year, it looked as if the love birds might finally be able to enjoy some peace. But, then Becky Swain came along…
Carla and Lisa looked set for a happy ending
Moving into Number 6 Coronation Street, alongside Lisa’s daughter Betsy and Carla’s nephew Ryan, the pair seemed set for a fresh start.
Earlier this month, Swarla fans were thrilled as Lisa popped the question and asked Carla to be her wife.
Of course, nothing is ever that simple in Soapland though. Lisa’s insistence that the couple were ‘indestructible’ foreshadowed that things were about to get messy.
Becky Swain returned from the dead
With the Connor-Swains settling in nicely to their new home and ready to celebrate their future, it was inevitable that something would rock the boat.
That something came in the form of Lisa’s ‘dead’ wife.
In a shock twist, the allegedly deceased Becky Swain let herself into Number 6, very much alive.
As it turned out, Becky had spent the last four years living in Spain under another name.
Claiming their lives had been in danger because of a gang, Becky had faked her own death to keep Lisa and Betsy safe.
Having grieved her for four years, Lisa wasn’t keen to let Becky back into her life.
It was Carla who attempted to convince her fiancée to let Becky stick around, knowing Betsy would want to spend time with her mother.
Carla felt pushed out in Coronation Street
While Becky’s true intentions remain to be seen, it looks as if Carla may be starting to regret her decision.In Wednesday’s (September 24) visit to the cobbles, Carla was surprised to walk in on Lisa, Betsy and Becky.
As Lisa told her that Betsy had asked Becky to stay for tea, Carla insisted there was no need for her to be sorry about it.
Her expression and muttering about the scene looking ‘cosy’ suggested otherwise.
Fans predict Carla will turn to Kit
Despite Becky seeming to want to win her family back, some fans are now predicting Carla will be the one to cheat.
Spoilers for next week suggest Carla turns to Kit Green for help. Could it be that she cheats before she can be cheated on?
Taking to social media, one fan suggested: “I think Carla and Kit will end up getting close and I think Carla and Kit will end up having a affair.”
Another added: “I think Carla is going to cheat with Kit. It sounds like what happened with Adam Barlow.”
A third suggested: “Carla will sleep with Kit.”
Can Coronation Street’s Carla and Lisa remain strong?
While it wouldn’t be the first time Carla has cheated on one of her partners, she and Lisa were solid before Becky returned.
Despite cheating fears on both sides, hope remains that they’ll still make it down the aisle. Becky’s ‘resurrection’ will bring the drama. But this is just one chapter, not the ending.
