Kate and King Charles’ ‘hospital heart-to-hearts’ amid ‘difficult’ cancer battles: ‘They have each other to lean on’

The senior royals are both fighting cancer

Kate Middleton and King Charles are said to be supporting each other as they both battle cancer.

The royal family has been rocked with the shock news that King Charles has cancer, with Princess Kate’s diagnosis coming shortly after, at the end of March.

Now, it has been alleged that the two royals were each other’s rocks during their stints in hospital. And the father daughter-in-law are reportedly “closer than ever” whilst going through treatment.

King Charles supports Kate Middleton through cancer diagnosis

In March, Kate underwent major abdominal surgery, where doctors discovered cancer. She is now in the early stages of preventive chemotherapy.

Meanwhile, King Charles is also undergoing cancer treatment. His diagnosis came after  he was hospitalised for an unrelated prostate operation.

With the pair both undergoing cancer treatment, their experiences have apparently solidified their bond.

Sources claimed that the pair would often have “hospital heart-to-hearts” while they were at the London Clinic, with Charles, in his dressing gown, visiting Kates bedside.

“When they were in hospital together, there was a lot of toddling down the corridor to spend time with her. He has been supporting and encouraging her throughout,” an insider revealed to Bella.

Royal commentator Jennie Bond added to the magazine: “Charles and Catherine have been getting closer and closer over the years. He’s had a lot of admiration for her, even before they both became ill, but adversity always has the effect of binding people so much closer together.”

Adversity always has the effect of binding people so much closer together.

She went on to say: “Their illnesses are an unbelievable and shocking coincidence. For them to have each other as a shoulder to lean on must be beneficial for both of them as they go through this difficult time together.”

Princess of Wales met King Charles for lunch after recording cancer statement

It comes after Hello’s Right Royal podcast shared that the monarch and the Princess of Wales met for lunch at Windsor Castle after Kate recorded her video.

Royal author Robert Hardman claimed that the pair met for lunch, before the video went out to the public.

Robert said: “Shortly after the Princess of Wales recorded the message, she went around to the castle, and there was a private lunch with the King.”

He claimed: “We don’t know what was discussed. But it’s very clear that he is extremely concerned about her. I think he wants to make sure that she knows that.”

Robert added: “It’s very much her and William dealing with this. But Charles wants to ensure that if there’s anything he can do, he will do it.”

Kate Middleton shares cancer diagnosis

In a moving announcement made in March, Kate told the public of her recent abdominal surgery: “The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventive chemotherapy. I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”

The Princess of Wales continued: “This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.

“It has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be okay.”

Kate went on to say: “I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal: in my mind, body and spirits. Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance too.

“As is the love and kindness that has been shown by so many of you.”
