GMB host Ed Balls left co-star Susanna Reid stunned as he showed off a new look, live on air.
Susanna was taken aback by the former Labour MP’s dramatic transformation during today’s show (Tuesday, September 1).

Today marked Ed and Susanna’s return to the show following their summer break.
However, Ed returned looking slightly different from how he did before.
Previously, the star, who joined the show in 2021, had been clean-shaven whilst hosting the programme.
However, today, the 59-year-old was sporting a goatee, much to Susanna’s surprise.
“Good Morning Britain, it’s just gone 6 o’clock, and it’s good to be back. I have my clothes back on after a summer trip to Ibiza,” she said.
Turning to her co-star, she then asked: “But who are you and what have you done with Ed Balls?!”

Ed replied: “Well, it is the same me.”
“But you look completely different!” Susanna protested, something which appeared to surprise Ed.
“The goatee adds a certain je ne sais quoi. I would say it takes 10 years off you,” she then added.
Weather presenter Alex Beresford was in agreement about the goatee. “I’m loving the goatee. I think it really suits you, and are they new glasses as well? I love this whole new look that you’ve got going on,” he said.
Ed then said that he’d been modelling himself on Alex with the goatee, but was keen to make it clear that he was the same old Ed, goatee or not.

Fans react to Ed’s new look
However, some viewers weren’t as impressed with Ed’s new look.
“What has [Ed] got on his chin?” one asked on X (formerly Twitter).
“Ed Balls proving that goatees are ridiculous. WTF is that?!” another asked. “Omg what the hell does Ed look like,” a third wrote.
However, other fans were a lot kinder.
“[Ed’s] looking good,” one wrote.
