ATTENTION: Scientists warn that cuddling kittens could KILL you!

Cat scratch disease could be fatal

| Updated:

This is the kind of news that makes you want to question the validity of scientific research.

Those who spend their time in white coats have been delving around again in to what makes us feel happy.

The problem is that they have concluded that cuddling kittens can kill you!

The killjoy doctors have been looking into scratch fever and have found that serious complications from this cat-borne bacterial disease are more common than anyone thought.

It is to such a state that the scientists recommend washing your hands after handling cats.

So that morning cuddle with little ‘Tiger’ may leave you in mortal danger!

Dr. Christina Nelson from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has spoken up about the consequences.

She said: “The scope and impact of the disease is a little bit larger than we thought.

“Cat-scratch is preventable. If we can identify the populations at risk and the patterns of disease, we can focus the prevention efforts.”

The disease can, in extreme cases, cause death but is more likely to bring on a fever.

It can be sealed with a kiss from your loving moggy, or by touching their fur and then touching your face.

The good news is that these killer kittens are very rare and despite saying that cat scratch disease (CSD) can be fatal, the study revealed an estimated 500 cases but no deaths.

It attacks humans by giving them swollen lymph glands.

In the most serious cases it can lead to inflammation of the brain or the inner lining of the heart.

Treating cats for fleas will reduce the chance of infection and folks, you can rest at ease a little.

There is just as much chance of being killed by a falling meteorite than succumbing to a killer kitten disease.

So, with that in mind… “Here kitty, kitty, it’s cuddle time!”
