Prince Harry reportedly has a strained relationship with the royal family following his exit from duties.
The royal family has been divided ever since 2020, when Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, decided to step away from senior duties and move to the US. What followed was a series of bombshell interviews and books that suggested the rift was always present. And as time has gone on, it’s been said that Harry doesn’t speak to his family much.
He recently said so himself, as he spoke to the BBC about how his father King Charles, 76, doesn’t speak to him anymore. But now, sources suggest that the royal family doesn’t trust the prince, and therefore can’t have a relationship with him.
Prince Harry ‘blackballed’ by royal family
Over the years, Prince Harry has been very open about not being on talking terms with his family. Despite their close bond growing up, he and his brother Prince William no longer see each other unless it’s for a royal event that brings Harry back to the UK. But when he comes, he is always alone and never brings his wife or kids.
Sources allegedly told Page Six that Harry is being “blackballed” by the royal family because of the lack of trust between them.
Last week, Harry revealed to the world that he doesn’t speak to his father because of his recent security court case. Harry recently lost his battle for taxpayer-funded armed police and bodyguards for when he visits the UK.
During his interview with the BBC, the duke also said he doesn’t know how much longer his father has to live amid his ongoing cancer battle.
The source claimed: “I genuinely think nobody trusts him, and that’s the bottom line. The royal family has major trust issues with him and that’s at the heart of everything. They don’t trust him and Meghan and that’s why they can’t have a relationship.”
However, despite the lack of relationship, it seems the royal family could potentially forgive what’s gone on between them and Harry – but there will always be the lack of trust.
Harry needs to ‘accept security decision’
The source added: “Maybe there is room to forgive, but they will not forget. Forgiveness and trust are two different things.”
Royal author Hugo Vickers also told the outlet that he has “total sympathy” for the royal family. He admitted that Charles is “right not to trust him” as Harry “shouldn’t have given that interview” as royal interviews are “always a car crash”.
Harry recent lost a Court of Appeal challenge over the decision to strip him of his publicly funded security detail when he visits the UK. Instead, the amount of security Harry and his family get whilst in the UK is decided on a case-by-case basis.
Amid his loss, the source believes he needs to move on.
The royal family has major trust issues with him and that’s at the heart of everything.
They reportedly said: “Harry has just got to accept the security decision and stop whingeing and whining. It was disgraceful to talk about Charles’ health. If he’s not talking to him, then how does he know anything about it?”
The source argued that while Harry “should be begging” for forgiveness, it needs to be done privately. But they believe that “won’t” happen because of his “stupidity” as he has “blown it”.
Prince Harry wants reconciliation with his family
The news comes as Prince Harry sat down for an interview with the BBC where he wished for a “reconciliation” with his family.
He told the news outlet that he “can’t see a world” where he would bring Meghan or their children, Archie and Lilibet, back to the UK due to the security issues. He expressed his upset that they would “miss everything” before declaring that he still has “love” for the UK.

Harry explained that his 2023 book, Spare, is a main point of tension within the family. He said he doesn’t think they will forgive him for it.
He said: “Of course, some members of my family will never forgive me for writing a book. But I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore. life is precious, I don’t know how much longer my father has. He won’t speak to me because of this security stuff. It would be nice to reconcile.”
