Strictly Come Dancing star narrowly misses out on the finale as latest elimination is revealed

The finalists for Strictly Come Dancing 2017 have been confirmed

Mollie King has been eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing.

The former Saturdays star thanked her rumoured boyfriend AJ Pritchard for getting her into the semi-final of the BBC ballroom dancing competition as she said goodbye to the competition.

The rumoured couple found themselves in the bottom two and had to face former Emmerdale actress Gemma Atkinson in the dance off.

The judges voted unanimously to send Mollie home and keep Gemma for the final.

As she said farewell, Mollie seemingly teased her romance with AJ, Mollie said: “Spending all this time with AJ I feel so lucky.

“So just a huge thank you to everyone who has voted us through, and to AJ who has got somebody who has got two left feet to this point – he is an absolute legend.”

She added: “It has been the most incredible experience and I feel so grateful to have got to the semi-finals, it has literally been the most fun I could ever have had.”

AJ added: “Mollie has been the best partner ever, willing to train non-stop with me and put up with me all the time.

“And who would have thought that we would make it to the semi-finals.

“Week one and that jive and I thought ‘oh my, it’s going to take a lot’ and then endless hours of training have produced fantastic performances and I am sorry I didn’t get you to the final.”

The pair also confirmed they would continue to dance together, another seeming nod to their rumoured romance.

Mollie’s exit means Alexandra Burke, Debbie McGee, Joe McFadden and Gemma Atkinson are this year’s Strictly Come Dancing finalists.

The Strictly Come Dancing Grand Final will be on next Saturday at 6.30pm on BBC One.
