Relieved Strictly fans says “good, he’s gone!” as Simon Rimmer loses the dance-off

The TV chef couldn't survive his third dance-off, after his American Smooth failed to impress in Hallowe'en week

Strictly Come Dancing fans were relieved and happy after Simon Rimmer finally left the show tonight.

The TV chef found himself in the bottom two yet again in the results show, after it turned out his Hallowe’en American Smooth hadn’t been a hit with either the judges or the viewers.

And after having taken part in the dreaded dance off for a third time, this time Simon and his professional partner Karen Clifton were not saved by any of the judges and were sent packing.

The 54-year-old was up against Mollie King and her partner AJ Pritchard in the dance-off.

Saturdays singer Mollie had danced the Cha Cha on Saturday, to Kylie Minogue’s Better The Devil You Know.

And while the bubbly blonde might have won a few fans for the skintight scarlet catsuit she wore, her moves weren’t quite as impressive.

But as all four judges chose to save Mollie and AJ, it was Simon who was voted off.

And judging by the messages from many viewers, they were relieved that his time on the dancing show was finally up.

“Good, Simon has gone. #Strictly” said one, while another added: “Glad to see the dreadfully wooden Simon out of Strictly.”

Fans of the show were definitely less than complimentary about the Sunday Brunch host, tweeting things like “Simon was awful,” “Time to go, Simon” and “Simon should have been gone 2 weeks ago. #Strictly”

And during Saturday’s show, they had been begging other fans not to support him.

“How is Simon Rimmer still in #Strictly? Whoever is voting for him, please stop!!” said one.

“Please vote for anyone other than Simon. He absolutely has to go this weekend,” added another.

But whatever some of the viewers might have thought, Simon himself was obviously sad to go.

As Tess asked if he he’d enjoyed his time on the show, Simon said: “Do you know it has been the most amazing experience ever, you know, from the minute I walked in through the door.

“The Strictly experience is just so positive, every single person involved in it is so positive. All the rest of the class of 2017 are just magnificent people. All the pro dancers are amazing.”

“When I danced the Waltz to You’ll Never Walk Alone and it touched people, I will never ever forget that. Every person who has come up and said hello and thank you messages has been brilliant.

“But the biggest thank you obviously is to Karen who has just been amazing, who has convinced this lumbering 54 year-old bloke that I could stand-up on a Saturday night and dance in front of millions of people.

“And she has become you know, a proper friend not just to me but to all my family and for that I can’t thank you enough.”
