Meghan Markle tipped to return to UK with children Archie and Lilibet

The duchess hasn't been in Britain for many years

Meghan Markle could make a return to the UK this year with her children, Archie and Lilibet, a royal commentator reckons.

It’s believed that last time the Duchess of Sussex, 44, was in the UK was to attend Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral in September 2022. It’s believed her children Archie, six, and Lilibet, four, haven’t visited Britain since June 2022, for the late queen’s platinum jubilee celebrations.

Prince Harry, 41, has returned to Britain on a few occasions since then. But his wife and kids haven’t joined him, choosing to stay in the US where the family lives.

According to reports, Harry could return to the UK this summer for an event marking the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games. But will Meghan join him?

Meghan Markle could make return to the UK

When asked if he thinks Meghan will return to the UK in 2026, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told GB News‘ People’s Channel: “Yes, absolutely, I certainly do. I think she’ll also bring Archie and Lilibet. I mean, will they see the king? Yes, I would suspect they will.

“How often and for how long? This will get international news, and remember that all of this has been planned.

I think she’ll also bring Archie and Lilibet.

“It’s been planned for a long time. But Harry is an exile. Exiles get very, very lonely, absolutely.”

There’s been no confirmation whether Meghan and her children will be returning to the UK this year.

However, Prince Harry is reportedly set to visit the UK in July for an Invictus Games event. Many will wonder whether Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet will join him.

What is the Invictus Games?

The Duke of Sussex founded his beloved Invictus Games in 2014. It’s an international multi-sport event which was first held in 2014, for wounded, injured and sick military service personnel, both serving and veterans.

Harry was inspired to create the games after visiting the USA for the Warrior Games, which saw wounded and injured service members and veterans who had served their country take part in sports.

The Traitors: Uncloaked star Ed Gamble on ‘battle with obesity’, his teenage health diagnosis, and TV wife

Ed Gamble‘s career from stand-up comedian to host of The Traitors: Uncloaked hasn’t necessarily been an easy one – thanks to a health battle that affected his life, and even his weight.

The comic lost seven stone at the start of his fame, having reached 19 stone. But how and why did Ed Gamble lose so much weight?

How did he become famous, and who is his TV wife? Here’s everything you need to know about the London-born comedian.

Who is Ed Gamble and what is he famous for?

Ed Gamble is a comedian, actor and writer, who was a finalist in the 2007 Chortle Student Comedy Awards. Comedy fans will probably know him best for co-presenting The Peacock and Gamble Podcast.

He’s a regular guest on comedy panel shows like Mock the Week, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Would I Lie to You?, House of Games, and Taskmaster. In fact, Ed won the ninth series of Taskmaster in 2019.

He co-wrote the comedy series Almost Royal and Man Down, as well as starring in them, and went on to co-create the comedy panel show The Island with his friend and Celebrity Hunted co-star James Acaster. In the series, host Tom Allen invited four comedians to create their own personal dream island. The pair also host their podcast Off Menu.

In recent years, Ed’s career has been on an uphill trajectory, thanks largely to bagging some of the best jobs on TV. As well as popping up as Alexander Armstrong’s assistant on Pointless, Ed has hosted The Traitors: Uncloaked since 2024. The jammy sod also presented the recent celebrity spin-off, getting to meet all the celebs after they were killed or banished.

He’s also been a judge on The Great British Menu since 2021, and took part in Celebrity Hunted in 2023. He and his pal, fellow comedian James Acaster, lasted four episodes, but were the stand-out stars of the show.

Ed is also known for writing episodes of Man Down, and Almost Royal. He also starred in both of these comedies.

Does comedian Ed Gamble have a book?

Comedian Ed Gamble has published one memoir, entitled Glutton: The Multi-Course Life of a Very Greedy Boy.

The book, which came out in paperback in 2024, charted his relationship with food.

The synopsis says: “From a young age, Ed Gamble’s immaculate bibs and extremely dirty nappies hinted at his capacious appetite. Before he could walk, Ed already knew that he preferred poached salmon to puree, that celery was a calorie-sapping waste of time, and that mashed potatoes should be made with lashings of butter.

“Whilst he might ordinarily have been upset by the calls of ‘precocious little [bleep]’ coming from his family, he was too busy stuffing his gob and staging rebellions against the patronising list of misery that is a children’s menu.”

In Glutton, Ed shared a “relatable buffet of experiences” and stories from a life lived through food. From the trials of being a diabetic with a sweet tooth to his teenage battles with obesity, to the joy of cooking and the power of food to bring us together.

Fellow comedian Greg Davies said of the book: “This book made me laugh and then order an unholy amount of takeaway.”

Romesh Ranganathan said: “One of my favourite comics has now written an annoyingly great book.”

Is comedian Ed Gamble on tour?

Ed has previously toured with his stand-up show Ed Gamble: Blood Sugar in 2019, in which he talks about his Type 1 Diabetes diagnosis.

He subsequently toured with his Electric tour.

This year, Ed is touring Europe and the US for the first time ever. From autumn 2025 to spring 2026, Ed will perform his stand-up show in Lisbon, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Washington, New York, and countless other locations.

How old is he and where is he from?

Edward Stephenson Jamison Gamble was born on March 11, 1986, in Hammersmith, London, to his nurse mother, and solicitor father. He is currently 39 years old.

The comedian attended King’s College School in Wimbledon, before going to Durham University. He studied philosophy as well as beginning his comedy career performing with the Durham Revue.

At Durham University, he met fellow comedians Nish Kumar, Tom Neenan, and Nick Mohammed. Of course, Nick recently became a finalist in The Celebrity Traitors.

Why and how did Ed lose seven stone in weight?

Ed speaks openly about losing seven stone in weight. When he first started doing stand-up comedy, he was noticeably bigger than he is now. But as a result of changing his diet and taking up exercise, Ed changed his body shape. He took up running, and has now taken part in several marathons.

He has previously said: “When I was 23 or 24, I lost a lot of weight and started trying to get on top of my lifestyle a bit.”

Ed, who previously weighed 19 stone, shed six stone in as many months. He told the Daily Star: “I didn’t do a crazy crash diet. I just changed my lifestyle – stopped the binge eating, stopped boozing for a while – and it just fell off. Then I started getting into exercise and found I enjoyed it.”

Ed made the decision to lose weight when he started getting a few TV bookings. However, he insists he “didn’t really have self-esteem issues.”

He says: “I was perfectly happy. But when I got booked for TV, I thought it might be nice to shed a few pounds.”

Ed has also admitted that he “used humour as a defence mechanism” at school. He said that “there’s no way that people could make jokes about my weight if I was making them myself, faster and better”.

He concluded: “Aside from losing weight, this was the best way to ward off bullying, and there was no way I was going to lose weight. I loved food.”

What illness does Ed Gamble have?

Comedian Ed Gamble has Type 1 diabetes. Doctors diagnosed Ed when he was 13 years old. Luckily, his mum was a nurse and noticed he was often thirsty and needing trips to the loo. He now addresses his condition as part of his performances.

He even turned his illness into a comedy show, and named his stand-up tour Blood Sugar!

Ed uses a constant blood glucose monitor. A sensor in his stomach sends readings via a transmitter in his skin directly to an app on his phone.

The comedian is now a runner and has participated in the London Marathon, raising money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund.

Who is his wife?

Ed is married to TV producer Charlie Jamison. She’s also in the indie rock band Supermilk. The pair have dated since 2011, when they were set up by mutual friends.

They were married on September 9, 2021, after postponing the date three times due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ed shared an Instagram post on April 25, 2020, telling his fans the news that it was the day they were supposed to get married.

He said: “Today should’ve been the day we got married. It absolutely sucks that it’s not happening today, but we’re doing pretty well overall. We’ve put on outfits (actual wedding outfits are impounded in various shops), and we’ve started drinking. Anyway it’s actually too hot a day to get married so it’s worked out for the best.”

The pair live together in South West London, and share a cat called Pig. Ed has previously stated he’s not sure he wants children. During an episode of podcast Off Menu, he said he had no plans to have kids.

Prince Harry tipped to attend Invictus Games event

The games will take place in Birmingham, UK, between July 10 and July 17, 2027.

A spokesperson for Invictus Games said the royal family will receive invites to the games.

They said: “The Royal Family have been longstanding supporters of the Invictus Games since its inception in 2014, with The Duke of Sussex as the Founding Patron of the Invictus Games Foundation. While it is too early to confirm who will attend in 2027 as invitations have not yet been sent out, organisers of Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 will issue invitations to members of the Royal Family in due course, and we would very much welcome their presence.”
