Meghan Markle may have graced the cover of British Vogue in the past, but according to a royal commentator, she might not be “prestige” enough in 2025 to secure a coveted place on the cover of Vogue US.
While the Duchess of Sussex, 43, has long been considered a global style icon, the commentator said this might not be enough.
Meanwhile, her sister-in-law, Princess Kate, continues to rise in stature. Kate, 43, has reportedly received an offer to feature on the magazine’s global covers.
What Anna Wintour has said about rumours Princess Kate ‘offered global Vogue cover’
This week, Vogue editor Anna Wintour herself was at Buckingham Palace to receive the Companion of Honour award from King Charles for her services to fashion.
Some critics suggest that Meghan’s chances of securing a Vogue cover under her leadership may be slim.
The Daily Mail alleged that Wintour personally reached out to Kate. The princess was apparently offered a global Vogue cover. When asked about the rumours this week, Wintour told press: “Yeah, I don’t know where those [rumours] have come from, do you?”
If true, this would put the Princess of Wales in a position of fashion royalty.
“Meghan might still be one of the most famous women on the planet,” royal commentator Daniela Elser wrote in a piece for news.com.au. “But celebrity does not necessarily equate to being someone with the necessary weight, prestige, and the broader resonance to earn a Vogue anointing.”
Why Meghan Markle might not get Vogue ‘anointing’
It’s not Meghan’s beauty or style that’s being questioned. Instead, her ability to command cultural influence in 2025 is under scrutiny.
“To snag the Vogue cover is a confirmation of a certain cultural currency, of mass appeal, and a person’s ascendance in the zeitgeist – all things the duchess has so far failed to quite secure,” Daniela continued.
Over the last few years, Meghan and her husband Prince Harry have taken hit after hit to their reputations. It came after they made multiple claims against the royal family after stepping down from their senior roles in early 2020.
All things the duchess has so far failed to quite secure.
Recently, Meghan has seen setbacks with her latest projects. These include her Netflix show With Love, Meghan, being delayed due to the LA wildfires, her brand American Riviera Orchard going slightly under the radar and her social media relaunch beginning slow.
Daniela wrote: “With the way things stand, I’m not sure anyone should be holding their breath to see Meghan’s face on the US edition. We are only a handful of weeks into 2025 – impossible to believe, I know – and already this year has seen the duchess’ professional fortunes take a serious turn for the bummer.”
Meghan’s relationship with Vogue
Meghan is not a stranger to the Vogue brand. The duchess guest-edited British Vogue’s September 2019 issue. She made history as the only person ever granted such creative control.
Her issue, Forces for Change, was a big success. It became the fastest and biggest-selling edition in a decade.
Queen Consort Camilla is set to undergo a major title change following the coronation in May, it has recently been reported.
Now, the real reason behind this change in title has been revealed by a royal expert – and it’s not due to her popularity.
Queen Consort Camilla to undergo major title change
Last week it was revealed that Camilla will undergo a major title change at the coronation.
As reported by The Mirror last Thursday (March 16), Camilla will be dropping the ‘Consort’ from her Queen Consort title soon.
Once the coronation is done, the 75-year-old will reportedly be simply known as Queen Camilla going forwards.
The news was revealed when the coronation edition of the bible was leaked.
In it, it reads: “To commemorate the Coronation of their majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla. In the Abbey Church of St Peter, Westminster. The sixth day of May 2023.”
When Camilla first married Charles, it was expected that she would become Princess Consort when Charles became King.
However, as per the late Queen Elizabeth’s wishes, Camilla’s title was changed to Queen Consort when Charles took the throne.
Now it seems as though another tweak is in order for Camilla’s royal title.
Why is Queen Consort Camilla changing her title?
Now, the real reason behind Camilla’s title change has been revealed – and it’s nothing to do with her popularity.
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliam spoke exclusively to ED! about the decision to change Camilla’s title and the reasoning behind it.
“Camilla’s history with titles is unique,” he said.
“She was Princess of Wales but chose to be known as the Duchess of Cornwall,” he then continued.
” It was the official position that when Charles ascended the throne she would be known as Princess Consort, until the Queen’s intervention in the eve of her Platinum Jubilee.”
“She is Queen Consort, but it is a heavy handed title,” he then said.
Camilla title change not down to ‘popularity’
The royal expert then continued, saying: “None of the previous three Queen Consorts used it, Alexandra, Mary and Elizabeth were all known as Queen.”
“In the age of social media and the net bad habits such as calling Catherine – Kate Middleton persist,” he then said.
“It also makes sense to make a title easier to use, which is why the change is likely,” he then continued.
Camilla’s history with titles is unique.
Richard then revealed at this point that the title change has nothing to do with popularity.
“It isn’t really linked to her personal popularity,” he said.
However, there is also another reason behind the change, according to the royal expert.
“Queen Consort Camilla sounds clunky so it will probably change,” he revealed.

Will Meghan Markle appear at the Met Gala?
Speculation also swirls every year about whether Meghan will attend the Met Gala. Despite years of rumours and predictions, Meghan has never appeared at the gala – which is often regarded as the world’s most prestigious and glamorous fashion event.
However, Daniela said Meghan making her Met Gala debut has “not come to pass” yet.
But this could simply be due to Meghan’s personal disinterest in over-the-top fashion.
