Prince Harry and Meghan Markle aren’t the only ‘feuding’ royals to move overseas as duke’s similarities with fellow ‘spare’ laid bare

Prince Harry will likely be joined by another royal “spare” – Denmark’s Prince Joachim – at the Invictus Games in Canada next month.

Prince Harry, 40, and Prince Joachim of Denmark, the younger brother of newly crowned King Frederik X, share strikingly similar journeys.

Both are former military officers, both have relocated overseas, and both have experienced high-profile rifts within their royal families.

Prince Harry could meet fellow ‘spare’ Prince Joachim of Denmark at Invictus Games

The first-ever winter edition of the Invictus Games – which Harry founded in 2014 – will take place in Vancouver and Whistler from February 8 to 16.

The games will feature adaptive sports such as alpine skiing, skeleton, and wheelchair curling.

HELLO! reports that Prince Joachim, 55, and his wife Princess Marie, 48, are due to attend the event on February 15, just in time for the closing ceremony.

However, this isn’t Joachim’s first association with Invictus. He previously joined Harry during the duke’s 2017 visit to Copenhagen, where they toured a military training center together.

Prince Joachim and Prince Harry share an uncanny parallel as younger royal siblings who have steadily moved further from the throne.

Both men served in their respective militaries: Joachim as a colonel in the Danish Armed Forces, and Harry as a British Army officer who completed two tours of Afghanistan.

However, their biggest similarity comes from their complicated royal exits.

The Danish royal family’s own ‘Megxit’ moment

Joachim and his wife, Princess Marie, moved to Washington D.C. in late 2023 so that he could take up a new role in the American defense industry.

Their decision came a year after an alleged family feud with Queen Margrethe II over royal titles.

In October 2022, Queen Margrethe announced a controversial decision to strip Joachim and Marie’s children of their royal titles. She claimed that it was to “futureproof” the monarchy.

However, Joachim publicly expressed his discontent. He told the Danish media that his children were being “mistreated” by his mother.

Meanwhile, Joachim’s brother the then Crown Prince Frederik and his wife Crown Princess Mary sided with Queen Margrethe.

“Change can be difficult and can really hurt. But this does not mean that the decision is not the right one,” Princess Mary announced in a public statement.

The tensions between the brothers mirrored those between Prince Harry and Prince William, particularly in the wake of Harry and Meghan’s 2020 exit from royal duties, often referred to as “Megxit”.

Prince Harry and Prince William have little chance of reconciliation

Despite the fallout, Joachim returned to Copenhagen in January 2024 to support his brother King Frederik X at his coronation – suggesting that their relationship is on the mend.

No, I don’t think there’s any time for reconciliation.

In contrast, Prince Harry’s relationship with Prince William is still strained, with no confirmed reunion on the horizon.

In a recent interview, Princess Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell was doubtful that William and Harry would mend their relationship.

Real reason Queen Consort Camilla will change her royal title revealed: ‘It isn’t due to her popularity’

Queen Consort Camilla to undergo major title change

Last week it was revealed that Camilla will undergo a major title change at the coronation.

As reported by The Mirror last Thursday (March 16), Camilla will be dropping the ‘Consort’ from her Queen Consort title soon.

Once the coronation is done, the 75-year-old will reportedly be simply known as Queen Camilla going forwards.

The news was revealed when the coronation edition of the bible was leaked.

In it, it reads: “To commemorate the Coronation of their majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla. In the Abbey Church of St Peter, Westminster. The sixth day of May 2023.”

When Camilla first married Charles, it was expected that she would become Princess Consort when Charles became King.

However, as per the late Queen Elizabeth’s wishes, Camilla’s title was changed to Queen Consort when Charles took the throne.

Now it seems as though another tweak is in order for Camilla’s royal title.

Why is Queen Consort Camilla changing her title?

Now, the real reason behind Camilla’s title change has been revealed – and it’s nothing to do with her popularity.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliam spoke exclusively to ED! about the decision to change Camilla’s title and the reasoning behind it.

“Camilla’s history with titles is unique,” he said.

“She was Princess of Wales but chose to be known as the Duchess of Cornwall,” he then continued.

” It was the official position that when Charles ascended the throne she would be known as Princess Consort, until the Queen’s intervention in the eve of her Platinum Jubilee.”

“She is Queen Consort, but it is a heavy handed title,” he then said.

Camilla title change not down to ‘popularity’

The royal expert then continued, saying: “None of the previous three Queen Consorts used it, Alexandra, Mary and Elizabeth were all known as Queen.”

“In the age of social media and the net bad habits such as calling Catherine – Kate Middleton persist,” he then said.

“It also makes sense to make a title easier to use, which is why the change is likely,” he then continued.

Camilla’s history with titles is unique.

Richard then revealed at this point that the title change has nothing to do with popularity.

“It isn’t really linked to her personal popularity,” he said.

However, there is also another reason behind the change, according to the royal expert.

“Queen Consort Camilla sounds clunky so it will probably change,” he revealed.

“No, I don’t think there’s any time for reconciliation,” he told Royal Insider on behalf of Prime Casino. “What William can see is what I can see – that Harry is focused on a different direction, and he doesn’t really care about what wreckage he leaves behind.

“He can wreck people’s lives on this side of the world and then return to his Montecito mansion in California, close the gates, and forget the world.”
