Julia Bradley jumps around topless following breast cancer diagnosis as she urges followers to ‘share this with someone’

She was diagnosed five years ago

Julia Bradbury has shared an empowering topless video five years after doctors diagnosed her with breast cancer.

The Countryfile presenter, 56, danced and jumped around in her garden with her back to the camera before turning around at the end of the clip.

The post continues Julia’s candid approach to discussing her health. She has also spoken about changing her diet and daily routine following her diagnosis, with food, exercise and sleep becoming major priorities.

Julia Bradbury shares message about happiness

Julia posted the video on Instagram on Sunday. Text shown alongside the clip read: “One day you will understand that happiness was always about learning how to live with yourself.

“That your happiness was never in the hands of others. One day you’ll realise that true happiness comes from within.”

Julia added in her caption: “For you. Share this with someone who needs reminding today. Our happiness is never in the hands of others.”

Followers praised the presenter’s attitude in the comments. One wrote: “love you and your energy.” Another told her: “Your energy is so brilliant, thank you.”

Julia Bradbury’s breast cancer diagnosis and mastectomy

Doctors diagnosed Julia with breast cancer in 2021, when she was 51. They found a six-centimetre tumour in her left breast. She later underwent a mastectomy but did not need chemotherapy.

Speaking to The Times about that period, Julia said: “I was terrified and sad, it was a very emotionally upsetting time. It must have been very, very difficult for my family.”

She added: “I was in the eye of the storm and changed overnight to become the person I needed to be to get through this.”

Julia initially removed meat and sugar from her diet after her diagnosis. She has since reintroduced meat but chooses healthier, organic options. The presenter has also made outdoor walks, regular exercise and consistent sleep part of her routine.

She previously explained that a busy filming schedule had often left her relying on convenience food from petrol stations and airports. Looking back, Julia admitted that she would have taken a more considered approach to her health when she was younger if she had known what she knows now.

Julia’s calls for wider access to risk testing

Julia has also advocated for polygenic risk score, known as PRS, and SNP testing to become available through the NHS. She believes the tests could help women understand and predict their potential breast cancer risk.

The presenter’s latest Instagram post focuses on self-acceptance rather than her treatment. However, it follows several years in which she has spoken openly about her diagnosis and the changes she made afterwards.
