EastEnders fans distracted by Mel Owen’s peculiar shadow during episode

Or rather, the shadow of her nose!

| Updated:

During dramatic scenes in EastEnders, BBC viewers were mesmerised. But not by what you might think.

Instead, soap fans noticed something rather odd about Mel Owen… Her shadow seemed to have a mind of its own!

During Thursday night’s episode (1 March), Mel’s nose – or rather its shadow – stole the limelight as viewers noticed it was more like Pinocchio’s than Mel’s.

Taking to Twitter to see if anyone else had noticed, one bemused TV watcher wrote: “Mel’s nose in the shadow looks ginormous!”

Another joked: “I wasn’t looking at Mel I was too busy looking at her shadow #EastEnders.”

“That shadow does Mel no favours,” said another.

While one more said: “What’s going on with Mel’s shadow?!”

One eagle-eyed social media user also noticed Mel’s head looked a lot flatter than usual. Weird, right?

The episode saw Mel clash with her son Hunter, after he renamed her club e20 without asking her. She had planned to call it The Phoenix.

In the shadowy scenes, Mel was seen secretly listening in on a conversation between Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) and her son (Charlie Winter).

Jack and Hunter shared an uncharacteristically tender moment talking about grief and losing loved ones, so it’s a shame Mel’s nose took the spotlight!

We wonder what actress Tamzin Outhwaite thought about her character’s dark alter ego?
