Sarah Ferguson reveals why she stands by Prince Andrew

In 2022, the Duke of York settled a sexual abuse lawsuit after he was accused of sexual assault – allegations he always denied.

In an interview with The Telegraph back in March, Sarah revealed how the late Queen plays a role in why she will always be there for her ex.

During the interview, Sarah was asked if the Queen knew she would always be there for her son.

“She knew. I will always be there. Always. Because I love her,” Sarah said.

The Duchess of York then had a lot of positive things to say about her former mother-in-law.

“Because also, during the last three years, her poor son [Prince Andrew] has been going through such a tumultuous time, and I think HM was very relieved I could help her with him, so we became even closer, then,” she said.

“But I’ve always admired and adored her. Really, she was more of a mother to me than my mother,” she then added.

Sarah and Prince Andrew were married from 1986 to 1996 and share daughters Princess Beatrice, 34, and Princess Eugenie, 32. However, despite being divorced, the former couple still live in the same place. They are currently living in the Royal Lodge together, despite their split.

Sarah remained close with the Queen after her split from Andrew. They would go for walks together.

Sarah Ferguson makes shock confession about Prince Andrew

Sarah opened up about her ex-husband again recently too. During an episode of her podcast –  Tea Talks with the Duchess and Sarah – she made a frank confession about The Duke of York.

Fergie revealed that Andrew is still “grieving” for the Queen and Prince Philip. The Queen passed away last September. Prince Philip, meanwhile, died back in April 2021.

After the Queen died, Sarah adopted her two corgis, Muick and Sandy. Sarah said that she and Andrew took the dogs to where the Queen would have walked them at Windsor. They went for a walk with them during a time when the Queen would usually be at Balmoral.

“It was very moving actually. At one stage we both, Andrew and I, just sat quietly under some really beautiful trees and I asked him if he was all right without his mum and dad,” she said.

“He said it’s lonely. He thinks about it a lot.”
