Things aren't looking good for two Real Housewives of Atlanta costars and it has fans wondering if they'll make it to the next season.
The feud between stars NeNe Leakes and Kim Zolciak further escalated due to Kim's legal threats against her costar.
Insiders said that producers are desperately trying to stop these legal proceedings, as the franchise may be ruined as a result.
On shows like RHOA, some disagreements are to be expected, but producers reportedly said that they are worried about what will happen when the cast becomes fearful of possibly being sued because of drama on the show.
"If the ladies no longer feel safe to say and do almost anything the show will be ruined,” an insider tells RadarOnline.
“They cannot expect to have great TV, full of drama and crazy behavior if the casts are worried about legal action.”
People who watch the Real Housewives franchise don't watch the show to see the cast members painting each other's nails. They want to see dramatic scenes.
"The foundation of all these shows is grown women acting appalling and saying the most terrible things to one another. Once that goes, the entire franchise it's dead," tells another inside source.
The beef between Kim, 39, and NeNe, 49, started just like any other dramatic episode but took a turn when NeNe started an explicit rant on social media after learning that Kim's daughter, 20-year-old Brielle Biermann, posted a Snapchat photo of a cockroach crawling across NeNe's bathroom floor.
"We don’t have roaches! If you found 1, u brought it with u or it fell outta yo funky [expletive]!" she wrote.
The situation escalated when NeNe accused Kim and Brielle of being racist, using hashtags such as "#racisttrash" and "#KKK".
For the sake of the franchise, Bravo says that they "want the legal action to stop immediately."
If progress is not made, the producers are even thinking about removing both housewives from the show.
