Joe Giudice knew his prison sentence wasn't going to be a walk in the park, but he's fighting mad that he's been denied something very important while behind bars.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey star is accusing the powers that be at his Fort Dix prison of denying him an alcohol treatment program.
In court papers filed last Friday, Joe says officials are abusing an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer as a reason to prevent him from receiving the care offered to other inmates.
The father of four is currently serving a 41-month sentence for bankruptcy fraud. He and wife Teresa Giudice also famously submitted false loan applications to procure $5 million in mortgages and construction loans.
When the couple was sentenced in 2014, a judge recommended Joe enroll in a prison's alcohol treatment program. Enrolling in the program could prove to reduce his sentence by a year, making it a top priority for the embattled reality star.
Joe is also scheduled to be deported to his home country of Italy after he completes his sentence, a stipulation that he's desperately trying to fight. However he cites the prison as also preventing him from contesting that decision. They don't permit inmates to appear before immigration judges.
Currently the soonest Joe can appeal his deportation will be 2019. An unsettling thought for a man whose wife and children still reside in New Jersey.
For her part Teresa has been spending a lot of time with family and friends while behind bars, often posting photos on Instagram of gatherings and celebrations.
Her upcoming book, Standing Strong, will outline her experiences since being released from prison, as well as how she's faring as a single mother while Joe is away.
The tome, which has a release date of October 3, will time perfectly for the premiere of RHONJ's eight season, airing on October 4 on Bravo.

The new season brings about the return of Danielle Staub, who Teresa had a tumultuous relationship with at the start of the series. In true Housewives fashion, the promos promise that long-standing friendships will be tested and new alliances will be made.
We can't help but wonder if Danielle's return will also bring the return of the infamous table flip that ended RHONJ's first season. One can only hope.
