When Dancing With the Stars returns to TV screens on Sept. 18 for Season 25 there is one person who won’t be there.
On Wednesday it was announced that newlywed Julianne Hough will not be returning as a judge on the panel.
The 29-year-old is skipping this season but – at the time of publication – it is not clear why.
A rep for the show released a statement to People magazine saying: "We are thrilled to have Len [Goodman], Bruno [Tonioli] and Carrie Ann [Inaba] back in the ballroom and look forward to welcoming guest judges wherever possible.”
Julianne has been a judge on the show since 2014, although she skipped Season 22 in 2016.
The year before she explained to Parade why she took the leap from performer to critic.
She told the magazine: “Being a dancer is a big commitment and it didn’t allow me time to focus on other aspects of my career.
“Being a judge is a great way to be a part of the show, but still have time for my other dreams and aspirations.”
Julianne said of judging back then: “Whatever I say comes from a place of love.
“So I hope that if there is controversy, they know that it’s coming from a good place.”
On July 8 Julianne married NHL player Brooks Laich.
In a post on her lifestyle blog Jules two weeks ago, she wrote a message to her followers, entitled, “Hello, Again.”
Vowing to recommit to the website she gave what could now be seen as a hint of changes to come.
Julianne wrote: “When Brooks and I got married in July, I took some time to reassess my priorities.
“In re-evaluating how I want to spend my time, the one thing I knew wholeheartedly was that this community we’ve created is incredibly important to me.
“Marriage is built on both love and commitment, so I’m here to show you I’m in it-to-win-it!”
